Who are Gilbert & Sullivan?

What do we do?

Why do we do it?

Do you already know about Gilbert & Sullivan?

Do you think that maybe the sort of music they wrote is dull and out of date - that it’s no longer relevant and not something you would want to listen to or sing?

Or maybe you haven’t got a clue what we are on about - and why should you?

We hope to show that the music of Gilbert & Sullivan is still worth singing, still worth watching and that performing their amazing, sometimes bizarre works can be enormous fun!

‘Three little maids from school are we,
Pert as a schoolgirl well can be,
Filled to the brim with girlish glee.’
(The Mikado)
Note: Seems to be most effective when sung in amateur productions by ladies of somewhat senior years - particularly if they take themselves seriously.

‘She may very well pass for forty-three
In the dusk with the light behind her!’
(Trial by Jury)

‘If a man can’t forge his own will, whose will can he forge? (Ruddigore)

The Great Yarmouth Gilbert & Sullivan Society has decided it’s time that we had more people enjoying themselves singing and performing - and it’s time to develop what we are doing for people who want to sing......... and for our audiences. You may have seen some of our posters about - you can see them here as well.

Whether you know all about Gilbert & Sullivan or are just someone who loves singing and performing - or think you would if you were given the chance - we hope you’ll have a look at what we have to offer with an open mind.

If you think it might be for you why not start by looking at our recruitment page here? Or just have a look around the site to get a flavour of where we’re at now.

Of course there’s still plenty  to look at on the site even if you don’t want to join.

The new concert programme is in rehearsal and the concert dates are booked.
