W.S. Gilbert’s Quotes of the Week
(Read more here)

‘Three little maids from school are we,
Pert as a schoolgirl well can be,
Filled to the brim with girlish glee.’
(The Mikado)
Note: Seems to be most effective when sung in amateur productions by ladies of somewhat senior years - particularly if they take themselves seriously.

‘She may very well pass for forty-three
In the dusk with the light behind her!’
(Trial by Jury)

‘If a man can’t forge his own will, whose will can he forge? (Ruddigore)

FAQ

We’ve tried to cover most things about the Society, and hopefully we have anticipated the questions you might want to ask. If not go to the contact us page and send us your question.

Since the site is quite new these are not really ‘frequently asked questions’ - (nobody has sent us any questions yet) just questions we thought might come up sometimes. When questions arise we will add answers here for the benefit of other visitors.

  • Concerts & Performances

‘How can I find out when the Society is performing?

All performances will be announced as far in advance as possible on the site. Forthcoming concerts will appear on the front page and throughout the site. Have a look at the calendar page to get details of all events.

Sign up to the newsletter to get information on all society events and to get alerts about forthcoming concerts.

Look out for posters locally - many local businesses are generous in allowing us to place posters.

Look in the local press ‘What’s On’ sections.

If you want to be kept informed directly by email send us a message via the contact page and we will email you when there is a concert coming up.

‘Where can I get tickets for the performances?

Tickets for concerts are usually sold via the venue for the performance, on the door, or can be obtained from Society members.

If you would like tickets you can also use the contact us details on this site.

For larger events tickets will often be sold via local outlets (such as Allens Music in the past). These will be announced with details of the performances and in any publicity material.
