Choir at Methodist Church Concert Gorleston

Great Yarmouth Gilbert and Sullivan Society is a group promoting and performing the works of Gilbert and Sullivan and related musical theatre - and enjoying our singing.

We are a friendly Society looking to welcome new members who can extend our performances and take us well into the new century.

The Society is very fortunate to have the services of Peter Murray as Musical Director. Peter has a long and illustrious career, including time as Assistant Conductor at the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company.

We rehearse every Tuesday at St. Peter’s Hall in Gorleston, when anyone is welcome to join us to see what we do and join in the singing.

We want the people of Great Yarmouth and the surrounding areas to experience the fun of Gilbert and Sullivan - and other related music - both as an audience as well as musicians and singers.

We know that we have got to change for the 21st century whilst keeping our roots firmly in this fascinating (and very funny) musical theatre of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Please e-mail us or call through the contact us page if you would like to sing or if you would just like to join the mailing list.

Membership

The Great Yarmouth Gilbert and Sullivan Society is always keen to welcome new members.

There are two forms of membership:

Singing Members - £20 per Year

(Under 18 years or in full time education - £10 per Year)

Friends of the Society/Non-Singing Members £16 per Year

Friends/Non-Singing Members are welcome to attend Annual General Meetings but are not able to vote.

You are welcome to come to rehearsal and ‘try before you buy’. There is an audition for Singing Members but it is usually an informal affair!

If you would like to come to a rehearsal it is as well to contact us first (using the contact us details) in case it has to be cancelled or the venue changed unexpectedly. We can also try to make sure there is music available for you - but you are welcome just to turn up. You can also check the calendar page to see if there is a rehearsal for any particular night (and to see what else is going on in the Society).

Rehearsals are normally Tuesday at 7.30pm in the church hall of St. Peter’s Church, Lowestoft Road, Gorleston. The hall is to the side of St. Peter’s Church.
